NIGERIA: While The World Looks Away, Christians Are Being Slaughtered

America, we need to talk about what’s happening in Nigeria — because our media won’t.

What’s going on?

Since July, over 437 Christians have been slaughtered in Nigeria, and the killing hasn’t stopped. This isn’t random violence. This is targeted, systematic persecution.

Just days ago, 100 gunmen descended on a Christian community and murdered 30 believers — men, women, and children — as they were preparing for church services. An attack that lasted for hours.

Hours. Think about that.

This is part of a long-running genocide that the world keeps trying to ignore.

Today, a critical oral intervention is being delivered at the U.N. Human Rights Council to force this issue to stay front and center where it belongs — before the world.

What this is really about

This is not a “clash.” It’s not a land dispute. Let’s call it what it is.

Radical Islamic militants — Fulani jihadists and Boko Haram offshoots — have been waging a war of extermination against Nigeria’s Christian communities for years. Churches burned. Villages wiped out. Pastors beheaded. Families butchered while they pray.

And the Nigerian government has done almost nothing to stop it.

If 437 members of any other group had been slaughtered since July, it would be on every front page in America. But because they are Christians in Africa, holding a Bible instead of a protest sign — the silence from Washington and the mainstream press is deafening.

Why it matters to America — As I See It

We are a nation founded on one simple idea: that our rights come from God, not government. Freedom of religion is our First Freedom. It’s in the First Amendment of that Constitution we swear to defend.

One Flag. One Constitution. That means we don’t get to pick and choose which religious persecution we care about based on politics.

When Christians are being hunted for going to church on Sunday morning, that is an attack on the very principle America was built on.

As a veteran, as an author, as an American who still believes this country has a moral voice — I have to ask: Where is ours?

We send billions around the world. We hold hearings about everything. But we can’t stop a genocide of Christians in plain sight?

What needs to happen

1. Name it. Call it genocide. Stop hiding behind “sectarian violence.”

2. Hold Nigeria accountable. No more blank checks without protection for Christian communities.

3. The U.N. must act. That intervention at the Human Rights Council today can’t be just talk. We need sanctions, investigations, and security for these villages.

4. The American Church must speak. Pray, yes. But also call your Congressman. Share this story when no one else will.

I started America As I See It because I believe America is still worth fighting for — and that includes fighting for the idea that no man should be slaughtered for kneeling to pray.
